Left 4 Dead 2 – Review (X360, PC)

Left 4 Dead 2 is a great game. It is, quite possibly, Valve’s best effort yet, and considering the rich heritage of that company, that’s saying something. It features great graphics, terrific sound design, astounding atmosphere, authentic tension and emotion, and the kind of addictive tactical gameplay that has not only come to be a staple of the L4D games by now, but is also Valve’s unique trademark. It is a game that everybody should try out at least once. And while there is a chance it won’t really appeal to you, there’s an even greater chance that you’ll love it. Left 4 Dead 2 should be the blueprint for all future sequels- it rights the wrongs of the first, and it evolves and refines the gameplay design to perfection. If ever there was a case of a sequel totally rendering the existence of the first game useless, then this is it. If you’re yet to dabble in Valve’s rather fresh take on the zombie apocalypse, then by all means, go ahead and get the sequel. Not only is it better than the original, but it is a thoroughly excellent game in its own right…

Resident Evil 5 – Review (X360, PS3, PC)

There were many thoughts and opinions regarding Resident Evil 4, introduced back in 2005, and all those new gameplay mechanics that came with it. Some thought that the sloppy controls and deliberate action were a betrayal to the series, while most others stated that the series have just got their best soldier. Regardless of the ...

Batman: Arkham Asylum – Review (X360, PS3, PC)

Licences are usually mixed bags and it’s usually no surprise after you get quick movie cash-ins with minimal effort but large success. But Eidos were different; they never made a movie representation of the Dark Knight’s latest escapade but focused hard on providing us with a top quality game no matter how long they had ...

Velvet Assassin – Review (X360, PC)

Velvet Assassin – Review (X360, PC)

Velvet Assassin isn’t a bad game, however it isn’t particularly good either. It is a solid stealth game that sets it’s own rules that are easy to learn and follow. On the other hand, it really doesn’t have any unique aspects that set it apart from it’s competition. Players assume the role of Violette Summer, a ...

Shadow Complex – Review (X360)

Had this been release in stores as a sixty dollar title, it would have received scores from fair to good. Pricing it at fifteen dollars on the Xbox Arcade has provided gamers with one of the greatest values to come along in recent memory. Taking many cues from Super Metriod, Shadow Complex is a two ...

TMNT: Turtles in Time Re-shelled – Review (X360)

Turtles in Time: Re-shelled is a tough game to critique. In the case of the ‘89 arcade game that came out on Xbox Live a while ago, little was changed, so players knew what to expect. In Re-shelled, the improved graphics and update to 3D would also imply other improvements, but that really isn’t the ...

Ghostbusters: The Video Game

Ghostbusters is a difficult game to review. Fans of the movies will love just about every second of it, while others will probably see it as a unique yet repetitive action game. As a huge fan of the films myself, I definitely had the experience the developers were hoping for. The game starts in 1991, two ...

Tom Clancy’s HAWX- Review (PS3/X360/PC)

There haven’t been many jet fighter games released during the current console generation, so I’ve had my eye on Hawx for a while. For the most part, it delivers a great story and awesome action. The few missteps are easily overshadowed by the through-the-roof fun factor. The game definitely goes for an arcade feel. Planes come ...

Stranglehold

Anyone who has wanted to be in a John Woo action movie now can have that chance. Now you too can take part in completely unrealistic action sequences, take a thousand bullets and come away with a couple of cuts and scratches, and have doves appear out of nowhere and fly around you in slow ...
