I would say the same thing is true of console FPS games. You rarely have fair fights (maybe “fair teams”), but there is no filtering outside of Killzone 2 to keep the prestige or maxed out groups in their respective places.

I guess to get better you need to play with the big dogs, but getting fragged over and over is no fun.

Regardless, great article – and sorry to hear Wrath of the Lich King sucked you back in. Hope you are around when Starcraft II hits shelves – I’m drinking that Kool-Aid already!!!

Anonymous: that’s all up to u self and how much time u are willing to spend in the game after HC’s u cant walk diretlly yo ulduar i suggest u get naxx 10/25 down a few times first..
BUT i can only agree on the subject when my second char dinged 80 i spend a HUGE amount of time to make ppls to grp whit me for raids because i didnt meet the ”gear requirments” and didnt have the archiements on the char.
and the subject on kids AGREE, never have i meet more under-age ppl’s then in WOW isnt there a age duristrition on 16+?

Ive bin playing wow since WOTLK came out and reached 2x lvl 80 whit full ulduar gear im an exsperienced player who like new challenges, but there is no new challenges in wow.
ive only bin playing for 8months and allrdy im bored like hell.!
Maybe i play to much but still the game is not that complex and u could wish of a MMO that big as wow to easy ANYONE could walk through that game. what a waste of money!

I've been playing since WoW first came out, and now I'm finding that the new expansion is so disappointing. At least in Kara you could still play without NEEDING all the addons and other programs. So I spent a couple months thinking that the end game content would be accessible, but all for naught. You get snubbed for not having the right addons, vent, whatever. Totally ruins the experience, then on top of that you have this crappy epic gear from grinding Heroics that does not even come close to the new Ulduar gear that came out when? Oh yeah, just a few months after the expansion came out. WTH folks! I spent how long just to get killed in a BG by someone who out gears me because they have addons and the like? To add injury to insult, you can't even simply put tons of time in PVPing to get a decent weapon. WoW was good back in the day before all of the expansions, especially the most current one. Suffice it to say, the casual gamer experience is lost for many reasons. You should get what you pay for, and I pay just as much as everyone else, but get less of an experience being the casual gamer.

Nice post , and its 100% true but i don't think WoW is the best game to me because as my name stats , i played waaaay too much mmorpg and i'm only 14 by the way , the moment i played it ( like for 3 days ).

I began to feel bored and the graphic s**ks!! 85% of the mmorpg i played was much more awesome than WoW. And WoW is a clone i agree i hate all the other people commenting on other games saying things like " oh look another WoW clone " and " !@^@%#*^ these stupid WoW clones (blah blah blah)"

It’s really true, I love this post. When I first started playing this game, I loved it. I had a great group of friends that (as someone else said earlier) They were over 1,000 miles away and I still felt like they were close friends. Then…the worst thing happened…TBC came out. This game was actually a little challenging before, but it’s a been a slippery slope since then. I hate Wotlk with a passion, worst expansion i’ve ever played. It’s so damn simple, I wanna go back in time just to enjoy this game again, it’s completely ruined for me.

I have never actually played W.o.W., but I have played other MMO’s. I would probably agree that some people get too addicted to it. It’s all fun and games until some idiot starts spamming “Lawl” over and again.
and the PvP “Slayers” are always annoying. They log in to complete their kill quota of new players per day, and then log out. What they need to remember is that it’s just a game, and if they do nothing but play W.o.W., then it’s not gaming it’s just escapism. And we all know what escapism leads to.

Playing WoW is like driving through Nebraska. It’s long, boring, and repetitive. If you think about doing that alone you’d want to kill yourself. Now put two or three friends in your car with you. Suddenly you have someone to have a conversation with, to laugh with, etc. But you’re still driving down that same boring stretch of highway.
The fact that the game is multiplayer is the only thing that makes people want to play it. So when you’re killing your 500th boar for whatever quest you’re on, just remember that the people you play with are only there to mask the true monotony of the game.
