Why World of Warcraft Sucks
First off, I want to say that I don’t hate this game. I acknowledge that it is an extremely polished and accessible game. I also accept that it is almost solely responsible for the wave of MMOs (Massively Multiplayer Online games) that have followed. I myself have put over three years into the game. I love Blizzard and believe that every game they make is amazing. My problem is that so many people think this is the greatest game of all time and refuse to look at anything else.
The people that annoy me the most are the ones that look at any new MMO and say, “They just copied World of Warcraft.” I hate to break it to everyone, but WoW just copied Asheron’s Call, who in turn copied Everquest. These games are nearly identical. Blizzard just put it’s renown level of polish on WoW. So, yes, all these new games did copy someone. They copied Everquest. WoW has done nothing to deserve that kind of praise.
The second group of people that ruin the game are the ones that take the game way too seriously. I just don’t understand these people that get bent out of shape over a game. A perfect example of this would be the, now infamous, Leroy Jenkins incident (look it up on YouTube if you haven’t seen it). Those types of players turned the game into a science and hate people that don’t know exactly what they are doing. I can’t relax and enjoy the game when in a group with people like that. I recall one night my room mate and I were going through an instance with some of our guild members. We were there so that our enchanters could get weapons to disenchant for supplies. Neither me nor my room mate did enchanting so we were getting nothing out of being there, other than the enjoyment of playing. One of the guys in our group needed a sword that we found because it was better than the one he had. Another guy in the group flipped out because the first guy (for some reason) wasn’t supposed to take it. He started yelling and ended up quiting our guild. All over a sword that he wanted to turn into a pile of dust and a guild mate that would put the weapon to much better use.
The game has been out for almost four years and they haven’t done anything new. When I first got to the Outlands (the new land added in the expansion) I told my room mate that if I have to go on another boar hunting quest, I was quitting the game. Sure enough, within a couple of quest, I had to collect twelve samples of boar blood. To make matters worse, only about one in five boars had a sample on them. How the hell does a boar have no blood on them? Nearly every single quest in the game is a repeat of a previous quest and most have a ridiculously frustrating drop rate on quest items. If they want the quest to take a while, make us collect thirty of the item. Don’t make us kill ten enemies before we get one.
The PvP setup is one of the dumbest I have come across. If you attack an enemy player, you are stuck in PvP mode for ten minutes. During this time, every level seventy in the area begins hunting you down. Every single time I turned PvP, I was killed within minutes by someone ten or more levels higher than me. For fair fights, the game rewards you with Honor Points. This behavior could be discouraged by subtracting Honor for kills that are completely unfair. Let’s face it, nothing is less honorable than killing someone that has no chance of defending themselves against you.
The end game content is 95% pointless. Since your level is usually maxed out at this point, you get no more experience and items are the only reason for going anywhere. Nothing can be accomplished by yourself or with a small group of friends. Any item worth getting requires you to join a 25 man raid and go into an instance. This many people getting organized can mean standing around and waiting for a couple of hours. The worthwhile items are only dropped by the bosses and many times they won’t be any use to your character. If they do drop something you need, you have to perform a luck roll against any of the other 25 people that might need it. If you don’t win the roll, the entire instance was a complete waste of time. The odds of getting the item you want and winning the roll are so slim that you may have to go into the same instance ten or more times to even have a chance, each time becoming more and more frustrating. To make matters worse, Blizzard has announced another expansion that will contain new items which will make all the items that players have fought so hard for obsolete.
Like I said before, I do not hate the game. I will probably start playing again when the new expansion comes out. I just hate the people that criticize a game that has ideas similar to WoW and then turn around and talk bad about another game for not being like it. I also wish developers would stop carrying over dumb ideas just because Warcraft does it. I am not upset with Blizzard making the game. They have done everything they could to make it successful, and for that I commend them. My problem is with the people that have put it so high on a pedestal that it could never be as good as they make it out to be. Once everyone realizes that WoW is not the only game in town worth playing, the entire PC gaming community will be better off.
[EDIT: I did, in fact, begin playing again when Wrath of the Lich King came out.]

Isn’t that similar to the case of Counter Strike when some ignornat so-called ‘gamers’ (Those who play only CS and CS only and nothing else) say that CS is the best game and that no game could surpass it?
These people don’t know how to expose themselves to other types of games. It’s sad, really – because these people haven’t discovered the real meaning of gaming.
I don’t really have anything to add to that, but I want to thank you for the comment. I haven’t played Counter Strike, but by what I have heard, I can imagine that it would be the same situation.
I’ve been thinking of plunging into WoW and my first MMOPHFHSSLF (or whatever), but is there another MMO that is “better”? WoW is obviously the most popular, but that doesn’t automatically make it better, or more fun. If I’m gonna waste all free time in my life playing one of these things, it better be damn worth it.
WoW is a great choice as your first MMO. It is easy to get into but is still a fairly deep game. The tutorial and help system are the best in the business, while most other game assume that players have experience with MMOs. Since it is so well established, there are a ton of veteran players that are willing to help newbies (though there are also a ton of jerks). The cartoony graphics turn off many gamers. Lord of the Rings Online is another game worth a look. The graphics are much better than WoW but it is also less user friendly. If you are more into sci-fi than fantasy, Tabula Rasa is a great game. Since it is new, it is still very buggy but is more action packed than other games in the genre. These are just alternate options to consider. In my opinion, WoW is the perfect game to introduce someone to MMOs. You could easily spend the next few years playing the game. Just keep an open mind to what other games may be doing even if you get into WoW. It shouldn’t be the last game you will ever play like many people want you to think; just a starting point to deeper and more rewarding games in the future.
I’ve played my fair share of mmo’s starting with UO back in the day. Honestly, I like the characters, the story line and the classes of WoW (while very very few for an mmo). But I really, honestly and truly, hate the “community”. They are the WORST group of individuals I have ever had the dishonor of dealing with. I had a nice stint one time a long time ago (I have been playing off and on for about 3 years) and they were the greatest people I had ever met. But even they left the game. Now, I’m retrying this game again and I’ve been disgusted, in a way that I really don’t want to repeat. THE FIRST WEEK OF ME RETURNING! I’m done with WoW. Forever.
The last comment brings up a very good point that I didn’t mention in the article. Since WoW is so accessible and easy to get into, anyone can play it. This means an insane number of immature children that can easily ruin the experience for other players. These players are the ones who enjoy running around and killing weaker players over and over even though there are no rewards for doing so. They are also the ones for the downfall of the infamous ‘Barrens Chat.’ You can ignore individual people, but when such stupid conversations are going on in the general chat, it can be quite irritating. You can turn off the general chat, but this defeats one of the main purposes of playing an MMO. I’m not saying that all young players are bad; I was shocked to find out that one of the people in my guild that I had quite a lot of fun questing with was only 14. Unfortunately, the vast majority of them are either too rude or stupid to play the game with. I am also not saying that age is the determining factor in what type of players they are. Many players I have met in their 20s and even 30s are just as bad. In other games that are more difficult or complex, these players get bored quickly and quit playing. In this case, WoW’s ease of play very much works against it.
I am one person that believes WoW is the greatest game made to date, however I do not play it anymore because I needed to pull away from the time commitment that I was giving it.
I have played about 3 years worth myself and for the first 2 years was considered the “casual” player that waited around to get into instances with groups I have never worked with and did some of the larger dungeons with a guild that was “hopefully” on when they were supposed to be and gave up after the 3rd or 4th wipe. This led to pretty much all of the frustrations that you have pointed out and I was ready to quit the game, but instead thought to give it another shot by switching characters and going to a new server. This opened up my eyes to just how great the game can be.
I was lucky enough to get into a great guild that had a commitment to finishing all the content of the game. We weren’t worried about loot, just about the experience of killing new bosses. While this did take a lot of commitment, we were a group of responsible adults who understood that there are other things in life which come first such as jobs and families. Therefore we did not raid as often as most of the other top guilds. We chose the quality over quantity approach. We played hard when we were playing, but also played less so we didn’t get consumed by the game. This was often hard to balance and we did lose players who wanted to raid more and some who wanted to raid less, however in the end it became the perfect formula for us and we were able to finish all the current content.
The bonds that were developed during this time are what this game is about. The feeling of knowing people even though they live 1,000 miles away. The feeling of accomplishment when you have worked hard to come together and kill a new boss. The excitement of seeing the great content that Blizzard has built into the top dungeons. This is what makes WoW so great, however it is a give and take relationship. The more you put into it the more you get out of it. If you are a casual gamer then it is not nearly as fun, however if you are a “hardcore” gamer then the fun value increases exponentially. Just be careful that you can find that balance and be able to recognize when it becomes too much.
It may be strange to say, but I am glad someone finally dissagreed with me. I enjoy hearing dissenting opinions, especially if they are done without being negative. The last comment makes some good points, though I would have to say that the same could be said about any MMO. If you find the right group of people, any game can be the best game ever. I know people that swear by Star Wars: Galaxies simply because of the people they play with even though it is widely accepted as the worst MMO in history. I recently have started playing WoW again and am enjoying it, though I am being very picky about who I associate myself with. The article wasn’t meant to discourage people from playing; it’s more of a warning of what to look out for. Keep the comments coming. I like hearing what everyone has to say.
My first MMO was Everquest (which was back in 2004). I still play it. I actually tried Warcraft for the first time a couple months ago. It will never compare to the fun I’ve had in EQ.
Yeah, I have to agree with most of your post. I have to say, it is cool that Blizzard made a huge world for you to explore, a rediculous number of quests and options and a beautiful/entrancing experience overall. But, of course the question must be asked: what the hell is with the unneeded tediousness? A really great game won’t make you feel you’ve wasted your time to get to “the good parts”. And my God, collectively, with everyone that plays WoW, I shudder to think how many hours have been wasted “collecting boar’s blood”. It’s good for blizzard of course, as the game makes it’s money on subscriptions. The game is also an intriguing social phenomenon. But honestly, is that right? You can dick around in one area for a week doing the same thing 20 times. It takes a day or two to gain a damn level past 20. I just couldn’t shake the feeling my time was being mercilessly exploited for subscription money. I’d pay $200 up front to have the experience of the WoW world without the fluff, but I’m not going to waste as much time as they are asking of me. But of course that alienates the younger user base who don’t have the $200 to drop at the beginning. But by God, those kids will mow lawns and scrub floors to keep playing the damn game. If we were immortal, WoW would be a great game. But I think in this reality, there simply is no justification for the waste of human life. The game is ruined, for me and most people who aren’t willing to sacrifice damn near everything to play this game.
I’d be better off smoking pot 5 days a week.
Couldn’t afford the monthly payments anymore, went with guild wars instead. It was a fun game, but the monthly payments is a big turnoff.
Are you actually criticizing the game or are you just complaining that you got ganked by jerks? Also, endgame is entirely optional, you can just get to level 70 or reach whatever goal you want and stop playing.
Though your review made me lol.
Basically I’m complaining that I got ganked by jerks, but being that most of the game is based around interaction with said jerks, it’s hard to love the game. If you take the time to find the right people, the game’s faults probably won’t bother you as much.
I personally think that this game is one of the most boring games ever…
Cmon the skills animation REALLY SUCK! not action at all with them only running and spamming…
I ve try maaany games and almost all has the same system (maybe 1 or 2 “exclusive” features)
and for my own experience i must say that the most funny game is DEKARON and the best desing is PERFECT WORLD and the best TEAM BASED game are WolfTeam and DEKARON(Even if i consider myself a “soloer”)
Thats my personal opinion and i respect yours
about ur pvp timer comment, they make u wait 10 minutes so that u cant hunt lower lvl players and right after u kill them the turn pvp off so u can be without risk from other characters
Great review, I think its spot on. I played the game to level cap even though I hated the cheesy cartoon-like graphics. Why? Because I was tired of SWG and CoH. Once I got to the end I quickly got bored as I had a life outside of the game and didn’t want to put in the kind of time required to be a “top player”.
Now that WAR is out, its exactly what I wanted from WoW. A fantasy MMO that doesn’t look like a damned retarded cartoon. The PVP is true PVP as you can fight anywhere, yet they have a mechanic in place to keep someone 11+ levels above you from coming in and ganking you. The high lvl power ganker actually turns into a chicken haha!
I’m a casual gamer and only play an hour or two every two or three days, but I gotta say, I don’t feel like I’m not “caught up” if I don’t play for hours daily the way I did with WoW. Plus the back story is way better. Warhammer has been around for 30 years and I love their universe. I liked the original warcraft games for the computer (1 and 2) but hated the cartoony-ness of the 3rd.
Great review though.
My first MMO was EQ back in 2000. I used to stay up almost all night and drag myself into work the next day half asleep. What I really enjoyed about it was the community. I would spend weeks not gaining a single level, just chatting with people I had met in game and making patchwork armor for newbies in Nek Forest.
I started playing WoW back when it first came out and while I enjoyed it at first, I became bored with the game really fast. One thing that bugged me was that their was no community at all. Everyone could solo their way to top level so for the most part thats what they did. Also, the pointless ‘kill 10 boars’ quests were annoying. And every town with the exception of the major cities looked exactly the same! I just found the game very empty and pointless. I know there are people that absolutely love the game and to each their own.
Glad someone agrees with me.
I brought up nearly these same points at work and nearly got ganked irl.
It’s funny how closely related MMO and Chemical addictions are to each other. “I can quit anytime I want.”
Just decided to leave WAR as well. They have almost the exact opposite problems from WoW. Unpolished, unbalanced, too many quests, and too much PvP involvement.
Some things are similar. Fed-Ex quests, same old key hammering and uninventive character development.
There are huge reasons why World of Warcraft sucks, so I’m just going to touch on the biggest two.
1. The main objective of the entire game is to become a dick.
After you’ve done all the end game content, gotten your arena gear, and been to every instance in the game; you will find yourself running into low level villages to kill quest givers, npc merchants, and any lowbie foolish enough to be flagged for pvp. all to make the lives of those lesser than you miserable.
2. Blizzard rewards hours played not inherent skill.
In WoW, a level 70 with arena gear will ALWAYS kill a level 70 who doesn’t have arena gear (usually in about 2 or 3 hits). This is regardless of class, race, or how well you play your character. So the only way for you to compete is to waste months of your life grinding honor and marks like that sad sack did. I mean, God forbid you have a life outside of WoW.
WoW is garbage. There is no point to the whole thing, no storyline, and it takes 30 min to get anywhere. Pure garbage.
No the worst ppl in wow are the ones who would rather sit at their comps and play than go hang with real life freinds. But then like said before go it is the only and best game over. but everytime you tell them they are addicted to it they just say you cant get addicted. i even told someone about the assylum thing for wow and he just kept saying nope not true. Seriously if these ppl would have commited themselves to improving our world with this determination instead of a mmorpg i would love to see the state of our world
Thanks for taking the time to write such important yet valid article.
I have to say i do agree with you in almost everything, i just want to add something to article if possible.
Guys this is a GAME, games throughout the ages been created to entertain people, and not to use them and transfer them into a freaks.
With respect to the creators of the game “Blizzard” they commercialized the game, and transfer it into a Trojan horse to take over individuals and make them obsessed with the game and then paying your money to them on long, long term.
Wake up people, its just a game,, the world out there is much better, never be addicted to anything, or any game, and see what will happen to you…
No, the game just totally sucks all around, I played for about two years casually sometimes and hardcore at other times.
It’s cartoony and filled with silly pop culture references, they took an rpg and removed all the fantasy and lore aspects. So you’re stuck with a disney channel mmorpg.
Darkfall Online, lets take the MMORPG back to it’s glory days.
You use Everquest as the starting point of the world of MMORPG’s?
Ultima Online was out two years before Everquest. You’ve obviously never played it, but if you want to see where it all began, give it a try sometime.
Hello!
Thanks for a pretty spot on article.. Personally I started playing EQ a few years back but when WoW was released almost all my eqfriends disappeared. It wasn’t funny considering all the time we had spent in the game and all the fun we had.. but afterall… it was just a game.
Awhile later I tried EQ2 and even though it was so much different compared to the first game, it had some really good ideas and my guilds during those 2 years or so were great. For me EQ has always been about making friends and meeting people from different countries. A good friend of mine lives in cyprus and I in sweden, still we’ve been keeping in touch years after we stopped playing EQ. After TBC was released a few friends of mine talked me into joining them in WoW. I had been interested in it for quite some time after watching clips of great raids so I decided to try it out. The first thing I noticed was that the leveling was incredibly boring. People didn’t want to group up – it went faster soloing. Doing an instance for a good weapon was pretty useless – the weapon would be shit the next day if you were exping. Lets just say I wasn’t impressed.
It went so far that I actually bought a maxlevel paladin so I could start raiding. It was fun for around 6 months… then I had gone from instancegeared to clearing kara, gruul, mag, TK, SSC and starting in BT and whatever the 2nd T6 zone was called. When not raiding I was pvping… it was incredibly frustrating having to collect several kinds of armor just to be able to either tank, heal or dps.. not to mention how lame paladins were in pvp overall except in 5v5.
WoW is a quality game but for me EQ will always be the best mmo. Me and my cypriot friend just went back to EQ1 and we’re having a blast.. Now we are duoing as necromancer and paladin, and with SoD expansion you can hire tank or healer pets (u can still have normal pets) which cost money, but makes it easy to go hunt even though you can’t find a healer or tank. We also joined a guild with really nice people and the coolest thing is NONE of us are max level. Many are close but not quite there (quite a difference to wow yes?).
EQ does feel kinda old once you start again, but alot of zones have new graphics, they have added shaders and shadows. Every class in EQ has more utility and possibilities than WoW will ever have. The dungeons are as many of you know awesome (my favorite old one is Kaesora if you guys remember it). Now me and my friend have been exploring Cove of Decay, Bastion of Thunder and Veksar, hope those names can bring back some memories.
I find it sad that most people who enjoy mmorpgs have never tried the games that still exist which kind of set the standard. Like someone said Ultima Online for example.
Whatever game yall end up playing I hope you have a blast but I would personally NOT keep on playing WoW if I were you. There are better games out there who are just as challenging, offer friendlier players and an older and more mature fanbase.
Have fun,
Vantil on AB server
i’ve started 5 days ago after trying a trial account. i likes it at first, but now i’m totally turned off! in 5 days of grinding in the barrens with a shaman, i’m only level 16, and my skills cost insane amounts of money. quests are repeating and repeating over and over. i thought the hype would make it a good game, but truth be told, i got turned off the second i had no more questd and had to get one myself.
that’s the problem: there’s no storyline at all!! you just quest endlessly until you hit the level, buy your gear, and repeat. the graphics are bad, and truly…when a spell is called “lightning bolt”, i’d expect a bolt of actual lightning, not a ball of zagging lines going for the target like i just threw a paper ball. it’s apphaling how the system works,.
also, it’s impossible to be renowned before you hit 60, 70 or now 80. level 59? you suck! level 60? okay we give you a try. what’s the difference you ask? about 2% more health and mana and a new skill. WOAH!!! also, has a game ever been this crap-populated? it takes ages to find a person willing to help without spewing scat on you. ask where the skinning trainer is? you get a dozen insults. the worts is the barrens (ive been there) people actually tell eachother to die and hang themselves over pety talk. a girl asks which was to the crossroads and gets told to go slit her wrists if she’s too dumb to know. really…it’s awful.
the last thing is the end-game. i tried a private server and hit level 80 in 3 minutes. then what? take more gear? whats the point if it’s only 100 armor? in the real servers, the items are the whole game alone. so bad. and besides, who wants to spend 4 days straight running Naxxramas to get good gear (which you’ll have to wreslte for once it drops)? or Onyxia for the bags? for god’s sake! also, you’d think the higher leveled players would help the lowers, but no, they shit at them.
my lesson? stick to the game i love most: guild wars. great graphics, an actual deep story, and everyone has equal power at max level (which is 20, done in a day). only items and titles give more power, and how you build your skillset makes you powerful if done right. even pvp is cool, since there are random team battles and rewards for it. i’ll stick to guild wars, it’s just so much better for so many reasons. what hapens at max level you ask? why not try and finish the 4 storylines? they take about 2 weeks each if done quickly. why not try to catch a new skill and test some pvp with it?
truly, WoW of awful. i’ve bought the battlechest for nothing. the hype is not worth it, people. stay away from it. the only thing to buy WoW for would be to be part of the “cool crowd” out there that have no lives.
I finally found a mature adult guild that aren’t jerks, but of course I had to discover them when my tolerance for WoW is gone. If I found them 4 years ago when they started, my whole experience might of been different.
There are far to many assholes in this game and the amount of hostility is stifling. Especially on the Official Forums in the ‘Suggestions’, or ‘General Discussion’. It’s basically like a Barrens Forum Chat. No matter what you say, or brilliant ideas you come up with, some asshat thinks his trolling your post originality and idiocy will will glorify his virtual ego. When people say they are leaving WoW.. no matter how they say it.. This game sucks by, or I had a great time, but I’m moving on. You ALWAYS get some DICK going, “Can I have your stuff?”, or the most annoying 12 year old crap.. “QQ!”
For those who don’t know, QQ means to cry. Anyways, Lich King is a disaster. Northrend SUCKS and the level 80 jump was just another time sink designed by the developers to see how far they can push people to slave themselves.
I’ve played both Horde and Alliance, and as an Adult, both sides are equally immature. I’m sick of these kids. Period. I play on a private server where I dick around in battlegrounds with max 80 gear. Since this is all I care for, it puts the shitty time sink of leveling and gear grinding to a hault. I can play CASUAL on private servers and have a life. Log in for an hour, play some battlegrounds and call it a day.
No more gold grinding, Auction House selling, leveling, questing… god.
Fuck retail wow.
Hello! Well I recently quit; been playing for 3 years and I must say it was fun. At first I was basically hooked on cause I thought this game was eveyrthing I wanted. But as I continued to level, I began to see the many many faults and the boring content.
Northrend was a complete joke I beleive. I mean honestly, thwe quests are boring, and you spend hours in Naxx and can’t even down one boss … the only fun I had was the instances .. not worth the $50 I paid for it.
I say if you have too much time go outside, work out, study, do anything but waste your time.
I played WOW for few months (my first MMORGP) and I must say at first it seems like greatest thing ever, tons of thing to do and massive universe populated with real people, I got addicted to that concept pretty fast, playing it for 8-9 hours every day, almost whole night. But I must say at end after all these wasted hours I deleted game from PC and my lv70 paladin when i realised that whole game is designed like complete shit. These are my problems with WOW
1. WOW is game where all kids and stupid people are, complete geeks, immature people ect ect. I also meet really nice, mature and frendy people but they are outnumbered like 1:10 so it is hard to meet them.
2. WOW is probably most boring, stupid and repetive game to level up EVER. Seriusly after first 20 or so quests you saw 95% of thing you will be doing for next 400 or so houers. Collect 30 this, 10 that, kill 20 this, 15 that and so on for whole fricking game. Once in a while you get some cool and interesting quest but it is hardy worth effort.
3. Game itself have no end, no final goal, no nothing
So after half year of hardcore playing you have tier 6 epic gear insteed of normal epic, yuuupi you can run around your city creaming ” I have tier 6 gear with my class” like anybody care
4. End game instances
Not worth effort cuz reason number 1 + you have to clear them 10 or more times to get all items you wont, and that is if you are lucky. NOT worth efort just to get better wepon or armor
5. Apsolutly no skill required
It is kinda sad to see all those WOW “experts” thinking they are good players or something like that lol WOW is everything about better sword and armor, zero about actuall player skill. 7 years old child would kill 30 years “expert” players if he head little better gear. Sorry but it is true.
6. Too much kid frendy grafic
Most stuff in game look like strainght from Disney company
And so much more lol
Off topic..
Blizzard maker of Warcraft2, Diablo and Starcraft(some of greatest games of all time in my book) are quicky turning into one of most overrated companies , Diablo 2 did not live up to original in any way IMHO, Warcraft 3 was unbalanced and kinda sucked, WOW,BC,WOTLK are only one of most monotone money printing games of all time. Hope D3 and SC2 are incredible ( SC2 looks like more of the same, D3 looks ok from gameplay videos)
By and thanks for reading
Playing WoW is like driving through Nebraska. It’s long, boring, and repetitive. If you think about doing that alone you’d want to kill yourself. Now put two or three friends in your car with you. Suddenly you have someone to have a conversation with, to laugh with, etc. But you’re still driving down that same boring stretch of highway.
The fact that the game is multiplayer is the only thing that makes people want to play it. So when you’re killing your 500th boar for whatever quest you’re on, just remember that the people you play with are only there to mask the true monotony of the game.
I have never actually played W.o.W., but I have played other MMO’s. I would probably agree that some people get too addicted to it. It’s all fun and games until some idiot starts spamming “Lawl” over and again.
and the PvP “Slayers” are always annoying. They log in to complete their kill quota of new players per day, and then log out. What they need to remember is that it’s just a game, and if they do nothing but play W.o.W., then it’s not gaming it’s just escapism. And we all know what escapism leads to.
nice post!
It’s really true, I love this post. When I first started playing this game, I loved it. I had a great group of friends that (as someone else said earlier) They were over 1,000 miles away and I still felt like they were close friends. Then…the worst thing happened…TBC came out. This game was actually a little challenging before, but it’s a been a slippery slope since then. I hate Wotlk with a passion, worst expansion i’ve ever played. It’s so damn simple, I wanna go back in time just to enjoy this game again, it’s completely ruined for me.
Nice post , and its 100% true but i don't think WoW is the best game to me because as my name stats , i played waaaay too much mmorpg and i'm only 14 by the way , the moment i played it ( like for 3 days ).
I began to feel bored and the graphic s**ks!! 85% of the mmorpg i played was much more awesome than WoW. And WoW is a clone i agree i hate all the other people commenting on other games saying things like " oh look another WoW clone " and " !@^@%#*^ these stupid WoW clones (blah blah blah)"
I've been playing since WoW first came out, and now I'm finding that the new expansion is so disappointing. At least in Kara you could still play without NEEDING all the addons and other programs. So I spent a couple months thinking that the end game content would be accessible, but all for naught. You get snubbed for not having the right addons, vent, whatever. Totally ruins the experience, then on top of that you have this crappy epic gear from grinding Heroics that does not even come close to the new Ulduar gear that came out when? Oh yeah, just a few months after the expansion came out. WTH folks! I spent how long just to get killed in a BG by someone who out gears me because they have addons and the like? To add injury to insult, you can't even simply put tons of time in PVPing to get a decent weapon. WoW was good back in the day before all of the expansions, especially the most current one. Suffice it to say, the casual gamer experience is lost for many reasons. You should get what you pay for, and I pay just as much as everyone else, but get less of an experience being the casual gamer.
Ive bin playing wow since WOTLK came out and reached 2x lvl 80 whit full ulduar gear im an exsperienced player who like new challenges, but there is no new challenges in wow.
ive only bin playing for 8months and allrdy im bored like hell.!
Maybe i play to much but still the game is not that complex and u could wish of a MMO that big as wow to easy ANYONE could walk through that game. what a waste of money!
Anonymous: that’s all up to u self and how much time u are willing to spend in the game after HC’s u cant walk diretlly yo ulduar i suggest u get naxx 10/25 down a few times first..
BUT i can only agree on the subject when my second char dinged 80 i spend a HUGE amount of time to make ppls to grp whit me for raids because i didnt meet the ”gear requirments” and didnt have the archiements on the char.
and the subject on kids AGREE, never have i meet more under-age ppl’s then in WOW isnt there a age duristrition on 16+?
I would say the same thing is true of console FPS games. You rarely have fair fights (maybe “fair teams”), but there is no filtering outside of Killzone 2 to keep the prestige or maxed out groups in their respective places.
I guess to get better you need to play with the big dogs, but getting fragged over and over is no fun.
Regardless, great article – and sorry to hear Wrath of the Lich King sucked you back in. Hope you are around when Starcraft II hits shelves – I’m drinking that Kool-Aid already!!!
